Enrollment Information

Czech School of California offers classes during the academic year (September to June)  in two semesters. Fall Semester starts in September the weekend after Labor Day and continues through till the end of January. Spring Semester starts immediately in February and ends at the beginning of June. We accept students through the year following an assessment with the Administration team. Adult and online lessons start individually and independently of the academic calendar.

Czech School of California has a valid contractual agreement with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic as a provider of education abroad. Our teaching is conducted according to the valid Framework Educational Program for Elementary Education and thus our students achieve comparable results as students in Czech schools in the field of Czech language and literature, and in the knowledge of Czech history and geography.

How to Enroll

Find a course of study that best fits your child or adult and complete our New Student Registration Form. Our returning students must also complete the Continuing Student Registration Form at the beginning of each semester. If you have any questions before registering, contact our Administration team at any time.

Following your registration and once your student is accepted into our classes, you will receive an invoice for tuition payable online or by check. Tuition for our in-person classes is due in two installments and billed for each semester separately. Other courses of study are due in full upon the receipt of the invoice.

Please note that elementary school class textbooks and workbooks are not included in the tuition fee. Parents are responsible for purchasing the textbooks prior to the first class. Each student will be actively using all the textbooks and workbooks in their classes and it is essential they have their class materials with them on the first day of school. We will only have a small number of textbooks available for purchase through the school.

Benefits

Studying with Czech School of California comes with many benefits. Our school creates a community for all students and their families interested in Czech culture, traditions and heritage. We encourage active parent participation and volunteering throughout the year in the classroom as well as in extracurricular activities so you are fully engaged in your student’s learning.

Your student will have access to our school library with over 500 titles from Krtecek picture books through to the latest books and famous Czech authors for adults. We organize events and celebrations around all the main Czech festivals including St. Nicholas Day, Christmas party and carol singing, Easter gathering and craft and Children’s Day. Our school frequently hosts visiting theater groups, performers and guest speakers too, as well as coordinates active social events with partner organizations.

List of Textbooks

Please, find below a list of textbooks and workbooks used in our classes throughout the year. Myšáci’s 1st – 4th grade classes continue using textbooks published by Nová škola, s.r.o. in combination with Svět’s handwriting practice books and Taktik’s geography/history textbooks. 5th – 9th grades will be using student materials published by Nová Škola – Duha, s.r.o. in combination with  textbooks and materials from Taktik (history/geography/social sciences).

Each student will be actively using all the textbooks and workbooks in their classes as listed per grade. Please note that parents are responsible for purchasing the textbooks prior to the first class. We will have a small number of textbooks available for purchase through the school, as well.
